I am sure you have heard people say block out the noise before, in many different instances. Anything you do in life you will find that there is going to be input and advice from anyone. Why? Because everyone believes they know best!

The biggest culprit to look out for when it comes to this “advice” is the media. This can be true for anything however in this instance we are talking about the input they give when it comes to buying and selling of stocks.

When you decide to make the positive life changing decision to make a stock investment then you need to make sure that you are doing your own research. Find what is going to be best for you to invest in. Once you do, remember to continue to do your homework and block out the noise. The media may try impact your decisions to buy and make you feel as if you should sale instead of hold. However, if you put in the due diligence doing your research then you will know best on what to do.

Don’t stress if your investment has a week or two worth of losses. This could be a benefit and may just mean that you should buy more stock on a pullback for a better deal.

Some things to look for and listen to:

  • Seek financial history data
  • What are they projected to do in the future?
  • Make sure to attend all quarter reporting data calls
  • Listen carefully to those conference calls
  • Read income statements

And above all remember – you invested in this company for a reason so go with your gut. You may find your own advice to be way more beneficial than the medias.
